Making a Sourdough Starter from scratch- Its ready to use!

I have continued refreshing my sourdough starter over the last couple of days. In fact I found that refreshing it just once a day was fine, for these last days.

Last night I refreshed it again and this is how it looked this morning

Its now a really lively starter (ie full of air bubbles because the culture has developed) and I am glad to say its ready to go!

Hope yours worked well too.

Unless you are going to use it straight away, the best thing to do now is cover it with the lid or put it in tupperware and place it in the fridge. It will be fine there for many weeks, until you are ready to use it.

So my next post will be showing you how to make it into a fabulous Sourdough loaf

    Once you’ve got a sourdough in the fridge, how often do you refresh it etc etc?

      Hi Becky. That’s a really good question. You can leave it in the fridge for ages without refreshing it(couple of months) but once you have decided when you want to use it you need to refresh it 2 or 3 times before you start your new dough. I’ll take you through this in my next post.
